12/30/2023 0 Comments Neptunes clones tracklist![]() Its an ok song in a similar vien to the Lapdance and Brain in that it would sound out of place at a club. Turth Or Dare- The same or a very similar baseline from Lapdance reprises here but with the guest vocals of Kelis and some string arrangements. Lyrically its superb about just trying to earn a living to provide for your girl and not becoming like all the other dropouts- 5/5ĥ. Its got a mellow feel to it with an acoustic providing most of the tune over a slow drum beat. Provider- This is in my opinion the best track on the album. Anyway its another great tune with a fast beat which really makes you wanna move- 4.2/5Ĥ. Brain- The same guitar effect is used from Lapdance, however it still sounds quite fresh and its got some refreshing lyrics too- 'Do I really even love, or do I really love your brain?' perhaps an ironic spin on the normal lyrics of these kind of songs. Its an uptempo song and whilst it has a similar vibe to the previous track its much more relaxed and as can be guessed from the title its got an opptimistic 'lifes getting better' kinda theme to it which is cool- 4/5ģ. Things Are Getting Better- A change of pace with this more chilled out soulful rock track. As far as party tunes go this is almost flawless- 4.5/5Ģ. The thumping guitar bass line throughout the song is distinctive and doesnt tire and the guest female chorus of 'Oh Baby You Want Me' is pretty stellar. Anywho its an awesome song and among the albums best. Lapdance- Pharrell claims this song is about politicians who will do anything for money like strippers, despite the fact that it lyrically at least sounds very much like most brainless bump'n'grind songs. Rockstar was also famously remixed to great effect by William Orbit soon after its release.ġ. Lapdance and Rockstar were the albums two biggest and most famous singles, Provider was also released to more moderate success. In fact they recorded the original album for a 2001 release but rerecorded it with the funk-rock band Spymob in order to give the music a more of a soulful rock edge to it. With N*E*R*D the band, they went for a different type of music in order to differentiate their two 'groups'. The Neptunes of course are the producing duo responsible for most of the successful hip-hop/ R'n'B acts in the charts in the last 5 or more years. “Hot Damn,” Clipse featuring Ab-Liva, Pharrell, and Rosco P.N*E*R*D are a hip-hop/rock band comprising of Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo of The Neptunes and their friend Shae Haley. “Frontin,” Pharrell Williams featuring Jay-Z Here is the tentative tracklist for “Clones” (order to be determined): Hugo and Williams are also squeezing in production work on Britney Spears’ next Jive studio set, of which Hugo will say only, “we have some ideas but it’s just a matter of going in and doing it.” N*E*R*D will play dates this summer on the Sprite Liquid Mix tour, backed by Spymob. I don’t really even play guitar or bass but I’ve picked it up along the way. “This time around, most of the record, we’ll program things and play them ourselves. “The last album, we had Spymob help us,” he says. Meanwhile, N*E*R*D is “about 40%” through with its sophomore studio album, which will find Hugo and Williams playing the instruments themselves. Everyone sings ‘We Are the Champions,’ but this is ‘We Are the Champions’ and ‘Dr. Someone said we should submit it to the Olympics. As for “Loser,” Hugo enthuses, “to me, that is a stadium anthem. “It’s on a classic R&B tip, mixed with our version of Michael Jackson today,” Hugo says of the song. Usher’s track, “Sweet Lies,” may wind up being a duet. “We’re open to working with him more,” he offers. The Neptunes recorded at least one other song with McGirt (who was recently released from jail) but Hugo is hesitant to reveal further details. Hugo describes the song featured on “Clones,” titled “Operator,” as “an attempt to bring him back to the essence of ‘Brooklyn Zoo,’ where you get an adrenaline rush when you listen to it.” Hugo says he is particularly excited to be working again with McGirt, whose 1999 Elektra album “Nigga Please” featured production by the Neptunes. The Neptunes’ band, N*E*R*D, contributes the new track “Loser,” while Neptunes member Pharrell Williams offers the solo cut “Frontin,” featuring Jay-Z. We produced everything here.”Īmong the artists slated to appear are Dirt McGirt (formerly Ol’ Dirty Bastard), Usher, Clipse, Foxy Brown, Kelis, Busta Rhymes, Spymob, and up-and-coming Star Trak signees Rosco P. It’s a compilation to wave the flag and let people know about the label. 5, “Star Trak Presents… Clones” is described by Neptunes principal Chad Hugo as “our official stamp album. Ubiquitous production team the Neptunes is working on a star-studded compilation featuring artists from its Star Trak label.
